The sale of 61 models of Samsung cellphones in Russia has been prohibited by the court.

The Moscow Arbitration Court barred Samsung Electronics and its Russian representative office from selling and storing 61 types of Samsung cellphones in Russia on October 21, 2021.
The court prohibited the importation into Russian territory, the offering for sale, the sale, and storage for these purposes of devices designed to use the Samsung Pay payment service, during the operation (operation) of which, in accordance with their purpose, a patented method is automatically carried out, protected as an invention under Russian Federation patent No. 2686003 “Electronic Payment System.” The Swiss business Sqwin SA owns this patent, which was registered in 2019, and Viktor Gulchenko is listed as the author.
The restriction affected 61 Samsung smartphone models, including the Galaxy Z Flip and Galaxy Z Fold, as well as the Galaxy S21. Only a few versions of the Galaxy M series, as well as the Galaxy J2 and J2 core models, are named in the court’s ruling among the devices shown on the manufacturer’s official website. The Galaxy A series is not included in the court’s decision.
